URS Advisory Hosts Special Needs Planning for Families Panel Discussion at Els Center for Autism in Jupiter, FL

In honor of Autism Awareness Month, URS Advisory and a panel of local experts gathered at the Els Center of Excellence to discuss the lifetime journey of families with autistic children. The Special Needs Planning for Families Panel Discussion examined the unique challenges and opportunities that come with raising a child with autism.

Erik Lembcke, CFP® of URS Advisory, moderated the panel discussion, which featured insights from panelists Christa Herman Esq., Julia Lembcke, CFP®, ChSNC®, CLU®, and Corinne Poor, ChSNC® & United ABLE Account Ambassador. Each panelist brought their unique expertise to the table, providing valuable information for families with special needs children.

The panel discussion followed the story of Taylor, a 2-year-old recently diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, and his family as they navigate various aspects of special needs planning. Topics covered during the event included applying for and maintaining government benefits, estate planning, guardianship, utilizing special needs trusts and ABLE accounts in tandem, and protecting the family and Taylor in the event of a parent’s passing.

Julia and Erik Lembcke, the financial advisors who led the event, said, “We are grateful for the opportunity to bring together professionals in various fields to provide much-needed guidance and support to families affected by autism. Our goal is to empower these families with the tools and knowledge they need to plan for their child’s future effectively.”

Attendees of the event were treated to a delicious lunch from Hibiscus Street Café during the panel discussion and had the opportunity to tour the Els Center of Excellence’s full campus afterward. The event aimed to raise awareness about autism and provide resources for families in need.
